Victory Garden 2020
We, the Rogue Gardeners of Josephine County, received a donation of 2,000 packages of unsold seeds from the Grants Pass Grange CO-OP. Our plan was to distribute them to individuals who enter a vegetable in the Josephine County Fair. When the Fair was cancelled due to the Coronavirus we came up with an alternative for the distribution of the seeds. We would place 5 packages of seeds in an envelope and give them to our community. They could plant them in their yards and donate a portion of the harvest to a food bank. This is a concept used successfully in the past when America had a food shortage opportunity. The Josephine County Fairgrounds volunteered to advertise the project and distribute the seeds at their facility. We packaged 100 envelopes of Flowers, 100 envelopes of herbs and 200 envelopes of vegetables. We want to thank everyone who was involved and we are planning to expand the project next year by adding additional items for a garden.

Rogue Gardeners’ plan to support local programs
(as published in the Grants Pass Courier)
The Rogue Gardeners of Josephine County will have a booth at Saturday’s Growers’ Market at the fairgrounds to support the Plant A Row program and the Josephine County Food Bank. The club received thousands of last year’s seed packages from local businesses. They’re giving five-packs of seeds away at the market, in exchange for non perishable food donations, while encouraging gardeners to join the Plant A Row program in exchange. The market runs 9 a.m. to 1p.m. The club will continue at the Growers’ Market until the seeds— for both veggies and flowers— are gone. The Plant A Row program encourages gardeners to plant extra vegetables to donate for those in need each year. For more information, contact John Farias at jocafarias@earthlink.net.
